Đerdap is the first area in Serbia that is nominated to join the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. Geopark Đerdap is located in northeastern Serbia, and the Danube is also a natural and administrative border between Serbia and Romania. It covers an area of ​​1330 square kilometers, including the area of ​​the National Park Djerdap, established in 1974, expanding its territory for another 692 square kilometers. It covers the Djerdap Gorge in the middle course of the Danube and its hinterland – parts of the mountains Liškovac and Miroč.
